Start with the data question

Neuton is a catalog of more than 100 public-data Actors hosted on Apify. The MCP server is the routing layer: it helps ChatGPT find and inspect the right tool before any paid run begins.

Connect once, inspect before spending

  1. Open the Neuton Actors MCP Server and copy its remote endpoint.
  2. Add that endpoint in a ChatGPT workspace that supports custom MCP connections. Keep authentication inside the client's protected connection settings.
  3. Ask ChatGPT to search the Neuton catalog and inspect one Actor. Inspection should return the input contract, public status, pricing, and billing unit without starting a run.
  4. Choose a small input, set a hard spending cap, approve the run, and poll it until the status is terminal.
Keep credentials out of the conversation

Never paste an Apify token into a prompt, webpage, screenshot, or repository. Use the client's protected connector settings and check current ChatGPT MCP availability for your plan or workspace before troubleshooting a missing connection menu.

Three useful starter prompts

Discover without running

Find Neuton Actors for public LinkedIn job research.
Do not start a run. Compare the inputs, output fields, billing units, and prices.

Inspect one workflow

Inspect Neuton's LinkedIn Jobs Search Actor.
Show the smallest useful input for one role in one location and explain every paid output.

Approve a bounded run

Run the selected Actor for at most 25 results.
Use a hard maximum charge of $0.10. Stop if the billing mode or price is unclear.

Know who funds the run

Catalog search and Actor inspection are read-only. A real run can be billed in one of two ways, and the MCP response should state which one applied:

  • gateway-billed means the MCP Actor bills successful returned workflow results at its published gateway price.
  • customer-funded means the connected Apify account funds the selected Actor at that Actor's published Store price.

Failures, diagnostics, empty outputs, duplicates, unsupported classifications, and unchanged monitor checks should not be treated as paid business results. Verify the live Pricing tab before increasing volume.

Check the dataset before using it

CheckWhy it matters
Terminal run statusA started run is not a completed dataset.
Source URL or persistent IDEvery important row should be traceable.
Requested fields are populatedA non-empty row can still be incomplete.
billingMode and paid-unit countThese distinguish the funding path and actual chargeable output.
Evidence boundaryJob mentions, reviews, and public records should not become unsupported predictions.

Common questions

Can ChatGPT run any Neuton Actor?

The MCP server searches its live catalog. An Actor must be public, supported by the gateway, and have a valid input contract before it can be selected for a run.

Is ChatGPT doing the scraping?

No. ChatGPT selects and calls an Apify Actor through MCP. The Actor performs the bounded public-data workflow and returns structured output.

Can I use Claude or another AI client?

Yes, when the client supports compatible remote MCP connections. The same inspect-first and spending-cap rules still apply.

Does this require a LinkedIn login?

Neuton's LinkedIn job workflows use public job pages and do not ask for LinkedIn credentials or cookies. Other data collections use their stated public sources.

Run one inspect-only request first

Connect the server, ask ChatGPT to find the right Actor, and review its input and billing unit before approving a paid run.
